Recruitment approach

You’ve decided to apply for a job at LV= General Insurance (LV= GI)? That’s great news. We’ve outlined the typical recruitment steps for our key roles below, so you can get prepared. And remember, the recruitment process works both ways – it’s as much about making sure that we're right for you, as well as you being right for us.

Step 1: Research

Before submitting your application, it's important you feel LV= GI is the right employer for you. So have a look around this site and head over to, too. You might also like to check out our social media sites Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn to get a better idea of who we are and what we do. 

Step 2: Apply online

Once you’ve found a job that suits your skills and experiences, click the ‘apply’ link at the bottom of the advert. Follow the online application guide where you’ll be prompted to complete some initial questions. After that, simply upload your CV and any other information you feel is relevant to showcase your suitability for the role and submit your application. It should take you about half an hour. 

A colleague in our recruitment team will then review your application against the role you’ve applied for. We’ll be in touch to let you know if you’ve been shortlisted for the next stage.

Step 3: The selection process

Telephone interview 

You might be invited to book in for a telephone interview using our online booking system. This is a great opportunity for you to get to know us, find out more about life at LV= GI, understand the role and team in more detail and answer any questions. It’s also our opportunity to get to know you better - your recruiter will have a handful of key questions to cover and some competency-based questions, too. 
Face-to-face interview 

You’ll be invited to meet with us at one of our offices. Most of our interviews are competency based, related to the behaviours and technical skills needed to succeed in the role. To make sure you’re prepared as best as possible, we’ll always be clear on what to expect during the interview process when we first talk to you – so there’s no need to worry.

Please remember to bring your passport, proof of current address and National Insurance (NI) number.

Step 4: Outcome

Once all interviews are complete, your Recruiter will be back in touch to let you know the outcome of your application.

If you’ve been successful, we’ll call you to talk through the details of the offer and answer any questions you may have. As we’re FCA regulated, all our offers are subject to referencing - we’ll explain what that entails when we discuss the offer with you.

If you don’t quite have the required competencies for the role you’ve applied for, we’ll let you know that you haven’t been successful on this occasion and if you’d like more details, we’ll be happy to explain why.
